The students really enjoyed her sessions and created some great writing in a very short space of time.Year 7 and 8 English teachers also picked up some interesting strategies to encourage the creative writing juices.
Simmone lives in Castlemaine and is a full time writer. She writes realistic teenage fiction, plays, short stories and scripts for TV. She also uses social media as a platform for her writing and you can read what she has to say about her visit to Gippsland Grammar in her latest blog post

Inside a Dog

Inside a Dog has a whole new look and a series of additional features.
Book Clubs:

Each site member will have their own page, listing reviews they have written, their favourite and recommended books, and the book clubs they are members of. “Star reviewers” will earn privileges, ranging from recognition on the site itself to copies of books to review.
You'll find the 'Book Clubs' link at the very top of the Inside a Dog homepage, just above where you might expect a dog's eye to be :)
Reviews:In addition to individual pages for members, each book reviewed on the site will have its own page. Book pages will list all reviews of the book, along with any additional content supplied by publishers, including first chapters, book trailers, and audiobook snippets, and a list of recommendations and related titles.
Click on the Books link (next to 'Book Clubs') and you'll be taken to the latest books that have been added. Most require a review. You can still add a review to older books by going back through the pages or choosing a genre and finding books you've read.
Teacher Resources:

There are some fabulous links under the link titled: 'Teachers' at the top of the homepage.
Take a look at the 'Book Trailers' link which supplies excellent links that will help your students create book trailers in a number of formats including PowerPoint and Movie Maker.

Welcome to 2011

Last year this blog was set up as a site where reviews of books I had read could be posted in order to help you make choices about reading. During the holidays I read sooooo many books that I'm going to find it hard to decide which books I should review for you. It then occurred to me, why do all the reviewing myself when there are literally hundreds of readers in the school community who read regularly and as a group, more widely than me? So I decided that this year I'd invite you all to email a book that has really grabbed your attention. Email the review to me and I will post it with an image of your book and a 1 - 5 star rating. You might also like to include movie reviews but make them of a rating no higher than an M.
Looking forward to your imput :)
